Agents in Jackdaw

Jackdaw can run agents for you. Open Agents to see Mission Control, then choose New agent. You can describe the help you need in plain language or start with a named role and make it yours in a short conversation.

Agents are in beta, like the rest of Jackdaw.

Start with the help, not the workflow

You do not need to know every step you want automated. It is enough to say, "I could really use a Personal Assistant," "I need someone to run this move," or "I need a senior engineer to take this migration through the test suite."

Roles are starting points, not fixed templates. Each one makes the job legible up front:

• The job — what the agent is responsible for.
• What it needs — the sources, tools, or workspace it will use.
• The boundary — what it will bring back to you rather than decide alone.

The conversation then turns that starting point into your version of the role.

Standing duties

Standing duties are work that should keep happening. One agent can own several duties, and each duty can have its own trigger. A Personal Assistant might:

• Watch the inbox every 30 minutes.
• Prepare only the meetings that genuinely need prep.
• Gather replies owed and other loose ends at the end of the day.

Jackdaw evaluates each duty separately, so one quiet responsibility does not hide useful work from another.

Finite missions

A Mission is one objective with a finish line. Jackdaw keeps the durable plan, advances the work step by step, saves evidence from each step, and verifies the result before calling it complete.

For coding work on desktop, a Mission can hand scoped steps to local Codex or Claude workers using your existing subscription. The mission, rules, and progress survive restarts.

Missions and duties are deliberately different: a duty repeats; a mission finishes.

Tools and control

An agent can work from the context already in Jackdaw and from the tools you allow for the job. Depending on the role, that can include email, calendar, files, the wiki, the web, coding workers, and your signed-in browser.

Consequential actions stay visible:

• Drafted messages wait for your send.
• Browser form filling refuses credentials and payment fields, and submit stays your click.
• Mission steps keep their evidence and verification state.
• When a decision belongs to you, the agent brings it to Mission Control instead of guessing.

Mission Control

Mission Control is the home for the agents you have created. It shows:

• Work that needs you.
• What is working now.
• Your standing agents and their next duties.
• Recent work and mission progress.

Open any agent to review its job, change its instructions, inspect its run history, or start a new mission.
